Today I was supposed to get work done!

I did this instead.

I honestly don't blame Rosa for having a fear of owls. I had to think about it for a bit, but then I realized that owls are kinda terrifying.

That behavior they're doing in the video is called toe-dusting and it's actually a fear behavior rather than an anger behavior. They're just trying to look big in the hopes that the scary thing will go away. It's actually rather cute in real life (in an "aw poor little owl sorry I'm so big and scary I'll go away now" sort of way).

Actually I know it's a fear behavior, but that was the first thing I thought of to demonstrate scary-owl-ness. Admittedly it isn't very good, but it terrified me when I saw it first (not saying much).

If I get a chance I might try making a couple other scary owl pics to demonstrate scary-owl-ness, because seriously, owls are terrifying.

Have you watched Avatar: The Last Airbender at all? There's a huge owl spirit in one episode that turns into a dragon-like creature just like this when it gets upset.
Great shape and detailing, I like how you translated the owl's wings and markings into a quadrupedal stance =D

Much to my shame I have not. All of my friends have. They have threatened to force me to watch it. One day I'd like to, but I doubt I ever will. I don't do too much the TV's anymore.

Also: I now have a billion and one ref-pics of snowy owls. Originally the front "wings" were going to be more spindly and without feathers (more like a quadruped mammal), but somewhere I decided that pseudo-wings were cooler.

If you think about it, this creature is at least three kinds of impractical...
